White Mulled Wine

In the alcoholic hierarchy, mulled wine is typical of the middle class. Connoisseurs and connoisseurs sniff their nostrils: heating up expensive wine only spoils it, while there is no point in drinking cheap wine. But one could argue with them.

Ingredients

1 bottle of white semi-sweet wine

lemon (zest)

400 ml of pale rum

cinnamon

200g light sultanas

Step by step recipe

Sultanas are rinsed well and pour 1 cup of rum over them. Leave them to infuse for 3 to 4 hours, if not longer. Pour the cinnamon and zest over the white wine and the remaining rum. Heat until it reaches 60-70°C. Pour in the rum and sultanas. Bring to the boil over a very low heat (do not boil!) and pour into mugs. Each mug can be topped with a slice of lemon and a whole cinnamon stick.
