A Basic Recipe For Pearl Barley

Melted butter can be replaced with a mixture of butter and vegetable oil.


2 cups of pearl barley

5 cups of drinking water

2 tablespoons melted butter

0.5 tsp. salt

Step by step recipe

Step 1

Take a wide saucepan with a thick bottom, put on a low heat and heat. Pour in the pearl millet and fry, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes.

Step 2.

Add the oil, salt, stir thoroughly, and stir-fry without stopping to stir for another 5 minutes.

Step 3.

At the same time, bring the drinking water to a boil. After a total of 10 minutes of frying, pour the boiling water into the pot with the pearl millet, increase the heat to maximum, and bring back to a boil.

Step 4

Cover the pot with a lid, reduce the heat to low. Cook without opening the lid for 25 minutes.

Step 5

Remove the pot from the heat, wrap in plaid and let it stand, 15-20 minutes.
