Hot Cranberry Drink With Cinnamon

We invented this cranberry drink recipe when we faced the question of how to protect ourselves from the flu in cold weather. Cranberries make this drink even healthier, but we like lingonberries better.

Ingredients

500 g fresh or frozen cranberries

1 orange

2 tbsp. brown sugar

4 cinnamon or cassia sticks

clove honey

Step by step recipe

Step 1.

Defrost the frozen cranberries. Squeeze the juice from the berries in a juicer or with a spoon, placing the berries in a sieve over a bowl. Put the squeezed berries in a saucepan, pour 1.5 l of cold water, bring to the boil over low heat. Cook for 20 minutes, then strain.

Step 2.

Peel half the orange with a vegetable peeler. Slice the other half of the orange thinly into circles, then halve.

Step 3.

Return the cranberry broth to the pan, add the zest, sugar and cinnamon, bring back to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Pour in the pressed lingonberry juice, add honey to taste, bring to the boil (do not boil!) and pour into heat-proof glasses or mugs.

Step 4.

Place a few orange slices and 1 cinnamon stick in each mug. Serve immediately.
