Mug Cake

Have you ever thought that you could make a muffin in a mug instead of in a special mold? If not, it’s time to check out our original recipe. Especially since the whole process of making a cupcake in a mug, including kneading the dough, will take no more than 10 minutes. The thing is that we bake it not in the oven, but in the microwave oven. And this miracle of technology knows how to cope with tasks with incredible speed! So now, when someone from the loved ones asks to cook something delicious, tell them that it’s time to put the kettle on, because the muffin in the mug can already be considered ready.


big egg – 1 pc.

sugar – 3 tbsp.

vanilla extract – 3 drops

salt – to the tip of a knife

milk – 3 tbsp.

vegetable oil – 3 tbsp.

flour – 4 tablespoons.

cocoa powder – 2 tablespoons.

almond petals, syrup or ice cream to serve – to taste

Step by step recipe

Step 1.

To make the muffin in this recipe, select a refractory glass or ceramic mug of at least 200 ml, which can be used in the microwave.

Step 2.

Beat the egg in the prepared mug. Add the sugar, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Pour in the milk and vegetable oil. Stir with a small spoon or fork.

Step 3.

Sift the flour for the cupcake batter with the cocoa powder through a fine sieve into a small bowl. Add the resulting mixture to the mug with the egg and milk mixture. Mix thoroughly.

Step 4

Wipe the edges of the mug with a napkin. Turn the microwave on to maximum power. Place the mug with the muffin batter inside. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5.

Carefully remove the finished muffin cup from the microwave. Allow to cool slightly at room temperature. There is no need to remove the muffin from the mug.

Step 6.

Top the cupcake in the mug with syrup (berry, caramel, chocolate), good ice cream (ideally ice cream) and sprinkle with almond petals. Serve at the table.

Useful tip

If you increase the number of ingredients of the cupcake by three or four times, you can bake the product in a large mold (for example, silicone), in the oven – 20-30 minutes at 170°C.

Replace the vanilla extract for the cupcake batter with vanilla sugar, or in principle, refuse such an additive, because the composition includes cocoa powder, which already gives a rich flavor to the baked product.
